Weiner gets shafted: Clinton confidante Huma Abedin ditches sexting spouse
Both announcements came after Huma Abedin, Weiner’s wife and a top Hillary Clinton aide, announced that she and her husband were separating.

“Huma is making a very wise decision. I know Anthony Weiner well, and she will be far better off without him”.
In 2012, the couple told “People” that Mr Weiner had been to therapy since the first scandal and he said he was happy as a stay-at-home father. Last week, the group Judicial Watch released several previously undisclosed exchanges turned over by Abedin that included a 2009 message to Abedin from Band – an official at the Clinton Foundation at the time – seeking a meeting with Hillary Clinton for the crown prince of Bahrain. “It is possible that our country and its security have been greatly compromised by this”.
Observers figured that Weiner must have cleaned up his act when he ran for mayor of NY in 2013 – because, well, surely he would not risk putting his wife and young son through a second-time-around sexting scandal.
“After long and painful consideration and work on my marriage, I have made the decision to separate from my husband”, Abedin wrote.
Photos published by The New York Post late Sunday show the man completely and others feature Weiner’s face, but the photo of the boy has been partially blurred out, and the woman’s face is blurred out in her photos.
This afternoon, former Clinton White House legal counsel Lanny Davis suggested Clinton respond to Trump’s statement “by repeating the words of Joseph Welch to Sen”.
The Clinton campaign, which defended Abedin from Trump in 2015, has yet to issue a statement about the separation or its rival’s accusations.
Stylish and poised, Abedin carries enough clout within Clinton circles to headline high-profile fundraisers, as she did in 2015 alongside Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour in Paris, raising money from Americans living overseas.
Ms Abedin and Mr Weiner Wednesday in 2010 in a ceremony officiated by former President Bill Clinton. (Okay, that would include me.) That she stayed so long with a husband dumb enough to text photos of his aroused crotch to women around the country, and then do it again, and then, even after he was caught, do it yet again, must say something about her, right?
Abedin stood by Weiner through the initial 2011 revelations about his online relationships with women.
There is no evidence of wrongdoing, but Republicans and other critics have said Abedin is part of a culture of insider dealings and “pay to play” arrangements in which donors to the Clinton Foundation may have expected special treatment from a secretary of state and potential future president. Abedin is nearly always within steps of Clinton, and Clinton is nearly always on the road. “He is a calamity that is bringing her down with him”, Trump tweeted out on September 23, 2013. Weiner was a frequent guest on the NY news channel’s “Inside City Hall” program. Her faith is a big part of that, as she has told friends and even Vogue magazine, and she knew it would draw headlines.
The 40-year-old Abedin, now vice chairwoman of Clinton’s campaign, began working for the former first lady while a student at George Washington University in 1996.
But support for her was swift and firm on Monday, with friends saying she should be allowed to make her personal family decisions in private. “She also cares deeply about her son”, the close friend said.
