According to TVLine, a source has shared that Marvel and ABC Studios are planning to work on a “New Warriors” TV series.

With her lighthearted and comedic personality, Squirrel Girl is the flawless candidate to headline a half-hour Marvel comedy.

Her comment was enough to send comic book fans into a critter-filled frenzy, with Twitter user Bosslogic – who’s specializing in making casting rumors come to life in his designs – putting together a portrait of a squirrel-loving Kendrick.

Created as a junior version of The Avengers, Squirrel Girl is a member of the younger superhero squad.

The report cites sources that say they 30-minute show is now being shopped to various cable and streaming networks, though none were named. The New Warriors have often had a more serious tone in the Marvel Universe, but there was at least one miniseries that cast the team as the comedic stars of a superhero reality show shortly before they were scapegoated during Marvel’s firstCivil War crossover event. But is it possible that she would take on the character if she has to appear in Marvel’s “New Warriors” TV series?

The question is, if this series is actually happening, could we really see Kendrick playing Squirrel Girl? After all, when one of your main characters is named “Squirrel Girl”, you should be able to cut loose a bit. There, Green was recruited into the would-be super-team the Great Lakes Avengers, helping them defeat Maelstrom and his agents, Batroc’s Brigade, although during this time she had to deal with losing her most trusted squirrel companion, Monkey Joe, who was killed by the GLA’s rejected teammate, Leather Boy.
