Bastian Schweinsteiger: MLS an option but Man United stay is my dream

Jose Mourinho just can’t get enough of his job after his wife posted a photo of the Manchester United manager watching football on the way home from Saturday evening’s 1-0 win at Hull City.

Schweinsteiger is adamant his exile from the United first team does not represent the lowest point in a career which has been beset by injuries and the occasional setback at the highest level.

The former Bayern Munich midfielder said in a statement last week that United would be his last club in Europe, and pledged he would be ready to play if called upon by Mourinho.

“My absolute dream would be to play for Manchester United and help them reach their goals”, Schweinsteiger told a news conference ahead of his final match for Germany, a friendly against Finland in Monchengladbach on Wednesday.

‘I have no personal problems with Jose Mourinho. We had a good exchange, he explained his standpoint to me.

They suggest that the La Liga side have already started negotiations with Manchester United over the possibility of signing the Argentina global on a season-lone loan with an option to buy. But I also know what I want.

“We’ve got to wait and see how things go in September and October, but there is respect between us and that’s important for me”. It’s a respectful dialogue.

“He has developed as a coach and I am pleased to have played for him”.

“I’m certainly not going to stop playing football”. “I believe in my abilities”.

“I’m glad that I got the chance to get a farewell game”.

“The transfer window has already closed (in the MLS), so there’s nothing there”, said Schweinsteiger. That’s why it’s not possible now.

However, the 53-year-old wasn’t content to switch off after Rashford’s victor despite racking up three successive Premier League victories to make the ideal start to his United career.

“I think up to my suspension past year, things were going well for me, then I had two unfortunate injuries”, remembered Schweinsteiger. “But America is naturally an option”.
