Sue Perkins will not be appearing on this week’s episode of The Great British Bake Off.

For the first time in the Bake Off’s six year history, Mel Giedroyc will be presenting the show and all it’s baked goodness on her own.
According to The Telegraph, the beloved broadcaster was absent from the second episode, which was filmed in April, due to a family bereavement, but she later recorded some voiceover material and a pre-recorded sequence for the programme.
It’s the first episode Perkins has missed since the series began in 2010.
Mel Giedroyc will be forced to host the show alone this week after her co-host missed the filming for the show.
A spokesperson for GBBO told Metro: “Sue wasn’t able to join the team in the tent this week, but she’s back next week”.
Other than this minor incident, The Great British Bake Off has returned on spectacular form, with a new high of over 10 million viewers seeing last week’s opener.
“One baker has gone, they’re not coming back”.
Judges Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood have already caused debate on social media over their choice of “star baker” last week.
Perkin’s partner Anna Richardson recently revealed that she shares Sue’s love for sweat treats.

On the Great British Bake Off tonight the bakers will be tackling biscuits, with the Showstopper challenge apparently involving some of the show’s largest gingerbread structures ever.
