Various reports have suggested that Apple is considering ditching the traditional 3.5mm headphone jack, in favour of headphones which plug in via the Lightning port. Many people have complained that the removal of the headphone jack is unnecessary, but audiophiles rejoiced at the prospect of digital audio. This means that the event will be focusing on new camera features, perhaps?

Tech murmurings continue to suggest the soon-to-be-unveiled iPhone 7 will come without the headphone jack Apple users have become so accustomed to.

Expected to be the iPhone 7, it will follow the 6s launched in September a year ago and the smaller iPhone SE unveiled in March.

Invites for the product launch, presumed to be that of the company’s latest iPhone, have gone out, telling attendees “See you on the 7th”, on a background of out-of-focus multicoloured lights.

Rumors about the iPhone 7 have been all over the internet, but no date had been seen with respect to the launch of this handset. “Please join us for an invitation-only event at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco on Wednesday, September 7, at 10:00 a.m”. However, many enthusiasts believe that the next Mini tablet, the iPad Mini 5, might also make an appearance on the show floor.

Apple could possibly unveil new MacBook Pros the Apple Watch 2 at the same event.
