Vikings open new stadium with preseason win

Stefon Diggs caught five passes for 71 yards, all in the first half. “I had some fun out there playing with the guys, and I can’t wait to get back out there”. Quarterback Philip Rivers did not play in the win over the Cardinals, and in a Week 1 loss to the Tennessee Titans, Rivers finished 2-for-3 passing for 64 yards, including a 44-yard touchdown to running back Melvin Gordon.

“It was a great atmosphere and it’s just great being back out there, ” Bridgewater said.

“In a two-minute situation, you have to make those kinds of plays because you don’t have time to dink-and-dunk the ball down the field”, Rudolph said.

MINNEAPOLIS-Teddy Bridgewater gave the fans at U.S. Bank Stadium plenty to cheer about and then he turned into a cheerleader.

The Vikings will play their final preseason game Thursday night at U.S. Bank Stadium against the Los Angeles Rams.

Friday, Peterson said the decision was made “collectively”. Undrafted rookie Mike Bercovici, who started as the last man on the chart, completed 9 of his 13 throws last week for 108 yards, while Kellen Clemens has connected on 19 of 25 throws across the last two weeks for 230 yards.

With Adrian Peterson resting on the sideline, Jerick McKinnon rushed eight times for 56 yards for the Vikings.

Chargers: Sixth-round draft pick Drew Kaser dropped three punts inside the 10-yard line. The Vikings went on to defeat the Chargers 31-14.

The first hitch of the day came when phone apps malfunction, blocking access for some fans to their tickets. Sullivan didn’t play, because the coaches wanted to evaluate the way Berger played with right guard Brandon Fusco. Ordinarily, the expectation would be that Bridgewater would play the entire first half, and perhaps a series in the second, against the Chargers, but it remains to be seen how much Zimmer uses his starting QB.

Vikings: Backup safety Antone Exum, hurt playing on the kickoff return team, left on a cart for X-rays on his leg. The Vikings look and smell like a very good football team, one capable of a Super Bowl run, deep at almost every position.

U.S. Bank Stadium won’t have an ugly dome holding in the noise, but it is an indoor facility and the Vikings’ hope is that fans will create enough commotion that Aaron Rodgers and other opposing quarterbacks won’t be able to think straight when it matters.
