Telling the woman to “hold on tight” Perry pulled her out of the vehicle and set her down on the side of the road.
“Nothing out here, so somebody has to save her”, Perry said later in an on-camera interview. She appeared confused, but otherwise not severely injured on the side of the road. “I’m over here, ‘” Perry said.
‘I’ve been doing this for so long, I’ve watched paramedics and all of that, and i knew to keep her head still to make sure he didn’t have any further injuries, ‘ he said.
Meanwhile, reporter Brittany Weiss with grabbed a camera and recorded the whole thing. I’m over here.’ So, I ran on the other side to get her. “You’re going to be safe”. “How many people do you know that would go into a burning vehicle and pull you out?”
WBRZ reported that the woman is in the hospital in stable condition, and the baby is OK. As he told the woman to “hold on tight”, he ran with her to the pavement.
Perry later reflected on the incident: “Feel a little different, you know”.
