Solid gold Bolt bows out of the Olympics as “immortal”

“But now I just want to relax and take a vacation”. “I look at it as an accomplishment”, the UK Telegraph quotes Bolt as saying after the race.

Ryota Yamagato and Aska Cambridge who were both semi finalists in the 100m which bolt won, powered the Japanese to their historic win.

Team USA which had veteran athletes Tyson Gay and Justin Gatlin came third in the race with a time of 37.62 seconds. But their victory was short-lived as they were disqualified.

The US relay team weren’t the only ones facing the disqualification blues as the UK’s 4x400m side were ruled out of Saturday’s final due to an erroneous baton exchange. No one on the anchor leg is going to out-run me.

USA Track and Field, the body that governs the sport in America immediately filed an appeal against the disqualification, USA Today reports. They faced each other in the gold medal match, and Lee – the world’s No. 1 player – won again.

There has never been any doubt in the Jamaican’s own mind. “You can see that on the tape”, Rodgers said.

“I’m always going to bring my charisma to the sport”, Bolt added.

Then in London 2012 he delighted fans by achieving the improbable “double treble”, successfully defending all three titles he had won in Beijing. As a result, Canada was elevated to the bronze-medal position.

There has been no official confirmation of the news, but, if he is stripped of his gold, then it would nearly certainly mean all of his relay team-mates, including Bolt, also forfeiting their medals from the event.

“He’s a great sprinter”, Gay said after the race.

He has already been notified that his “A-sample” has come back positive but his ‘B-sample, ‘ an extra urine or blood sample taken at the same time as a safety net, which was still to be opened in June.

Trinidad and Tobago who originally came seventh were also disqualified.

The Americans, who needed to set a qualifying time in a solo rerun hours after dropping the baton in the preliminaries and getting a second chance on protest, won the final in 41.01 seconds.

The now nine-time Olympic champion and the world record holder in 100m, 200m and 4X100m relays was racing for one last time in the Olympics, and he made it a memorable night with a show of his brilliant best, helping himself to become only the third athlete after Paavo Nurmi and Carl Lewis to win nine Olympic gold medals in track and field and the first one to do so in sprint events. He is expected to now hang his “golden” spikes.
