“It’s the first such case since Turkish tanks entered into Syrian territory on Wednesday”, said Rami Abdel Rahman, head of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
Syrian rebel commander said that Turkish-backed rebels aim to capture Manbij city from Kurdish-allied forces as conflict between the sides escalated in northern Syria on Sunday.
“We will cleanse the area from ISIS and other terrorist groups”.
Turkey has warned that its offensive in Syria is targeted against the Kurdish militia as well as Daesh, warning the YPG to retreat from its recent advances.
The Observatory, a Britain-based group, said 20 people were killed and 50 wounded in a battle for the village of Jub al-Kousa fought between Turkey with its allies and Kurdish-backed militias.
Turkish media named the dead soldier as Ercan Celik, 28, and said a funeral for him would be held on Sunday in Gaziantep, which Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is now visiting.
The monitor also said at least four Kurdish fighters had been killed and 15 injured in Turkish bombardment of the two areas.
Regarding “the PYD (Democratic Union Party) terror group in Syria, we have just the same determination”, Erdogan said, referring to the main pro-Kurdish party in northern Syria and its YPG militia.
The Turkish-backed Nour el-din el-Zinki rebel group said fighters, backed by Turkish tanks, advanced Saturday on the village of Youssef Beik that lies southwest of Jarablus, seizing it from Kurdish-affiliated forces.
Meanwhile, French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault on Sunday said it was crucial to condemn Damascus use of chemical weapons in Syria ahead of a crunch UN Security Council meeting on the issue.
Turkish-backed militants seized Jarablus from the Daesh Takfiri terrorists on Wednesday, following an incursion by Turkey’s military that involved tanks and special forces supported by U.S. and Turkish fighter jets.
“Today I can say that we achieved clarity on the path forward” for a revamped cessation of hostilities, US Secretary of State John Kerry said.
Turkey considers the armed Kurdish militants terrorists, too.
Turkish backed Syrian rebels seized Jarablus this week after a lightening air and ground offensive.
Anadolu agency said the rebels were destroying mines planted by IS.
The Jarablus Military Council said the airstrikes in Amarneh village marked an “unprecedented and unsafe escalation” after Turkish artillery shelling the day before.
The Syrian government and its Russian ally are the only ones operating helicopters over Aleppo.
The escalation against the neighborhood comes after the evacuation of Daraya, a Damascus suburb, following a deal struck with the government after a grueling bombing campaign and a tight siege.

The Homs Local Council appealed to the United Nations envoy to Syria to negotiate a truce for al-Waer, condemning the government’s “siege policy” that aims to force residents and fighters to surrender.
