Google hasn’t given up on Google+ yet.

Back in November a year ago, Google rolled out a new-look Google+ and deemed it a “preview” of what was to come. At the time, users had to opt in to the new version. To go back to the Classic Google+, click on the “Back to classic Google+” link in the bottom left-hand corner of the webpage.
The first set of new features coming to Google+ deals with the average user, so let’s start off with one that we’ve been wanting for quite some time: pictures in comments. The new UI brings bold colours, and improved access to Collections and Communities. It was generally assumed that at some point this would replace what has become known as ‘Google+ Classic, ‘ and that day has now arrived, with the announcement that the Web preview will be the default look from today onwards.
The new experience makes it easier to focus on the features our Apps customers tell us they find the most useful, including a new home page to quickly browse through content, Communities that make it easy to collaborate around ideas and Collections that enable organizations to follow and discuss topics of interest.
Community moderators can pre-approve comments before they’re posted.

Lastly, Google+ with all its new features is also becoming a core part of the Google for Work service in the next few weeks. The process appeared to begin when Google Photos broke free of Google+ about one month after Pichai’s comments. Web users will also see some big changes to the notification center, giving them the ability to see and manage recent Google+ activity. These new features will be available on the Web, Android, and iOS “in the coming weeks”, Buckley said.
