Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger is looking forward to his final Germany match on Wednesday and admits he will miss joining up with his country.

United maintained their 100 per cent start in the Premier League under Jose Mourinho on Saturday courtesy of teenage substitute Marcus Rashford’s stoppage-time goal at Hull, which clinched a 1-0 win.

“Top players are better on the pitch than on the bench”, he said.

Jose Mourinho says Bastian Schweinsteiger is unlikely to feature as the competition in the squad is very high.

Sky Sports are this evening reporting that the 23-year-old is having a medical at Hull City ahead of a £1m move to the Premier League side.

“We’ve made a great start and we need to back that up now with some new players, just to give us a helping hand to take us on and further”.

“This time it’s going to be special because there have been major changes, as you know, including a new manager, and it’s the kick off for the Russia’s World Cup qualifiers”.

The player most affected by that positional tweak is Ross Barkley, who was dropped on Sunday by Allardyce in his first squad announcement since replacing Roy Hodgson as England coach.

“We have had to make some very hard decisions, none more so than obviously I would think Ross Barkley”, Allardyce said. If we don’t win, we don’t win, but the mentality is there and the boys are giving everything.

“Marcus Rashford has a lot of chances waiting for him”, the Portuguese said.

With the worldwide break on the horizon, the Manchester United revealed Fellaini would still travel with the Belgium squad to allow the national side’s medical team to examine him for themselves.

Rashford will instead play for England Under-21s this week to get some game time.

The uncertainty over the club’s future might also be at an end, however, with vice-chairman Ehab Allam writing in the programme that the match could be his family’s last as owners, with takeover talks with a Chinese consortium well advanced. We’re in the market for players.

“One thing is for sure: I’m not going to stop playing football”, he added.
