Cook appears to have made a decision to write 2016 off as an annus horribilis and not really release anything in the hopes of making a bigger splash next year and get its momentum and mojo back. The new iPhones will be similar in design to the 6s and 6s Plus, but we should see improvements under the hood and in the camera department.
Apple’s launch event will be held at the same venue where it has organized its last few product launches, the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco.
Headphones for the iPhone may instead work with the Lightning port on the bottom of the phone, now used for charging and data transfer, according to a report in The Washington Post.
Apple could introduce better depth of field on its new camera with some reports suggesting the device will feature a dual lens.
In addition to the entry-level iPhone that’ll come with increased storage, Apple is also making changes to the top-of-the-line model, which, according to a new leak today from NWE, will come with 256GB.
Various reports have suggested that Apple is considering ditching the traditional 3.5mm headphone jack, in favour of headphones which plug in via the Lightning port. As for the next major iPhone redesign, all signs point to 2017 when Apple will be celebrating the tenth-anniversary of the iPhone.
On the Apple Watch front, it’s been two years since the Watch was announced and a year and a half since its first-generation model was released.

We can’t guarantee that Apple will definitely remove the socket from all models, but with all the leaks that have emerged, it certainly seems that way.
