NVIDIA Announces Vault 1080 Mod for Fallout 4

“‘Vault 1080’ uses its terrifyingly realistic light and shadow as the core of its experience”, says Nvidia’s Steve Williams in a company post.

As if a new graphics driver wasn’t enough, an Nvidia Vault 1080 mod has been announced for Fallout 4, and will help to beautify the Commonwealth’s wasteland…or rather, as much as it can be beautified. This new mod will take you to a new vault where its occupants have come to embrace darkness and sickness, thinking this will be the key to their survival. This is thanks to HBAO+ and its control of ambient occlusion, which creates authentic depths anywhere a light source is blocked, no matter how small or fleeting. In the hourlong quest that Vault 1080 adds to Fallout 4, players will head through a marsh to a church that obscures the entrance to the titular vault and its dark tunnels. Are you going to give Vault 1080 a spin when it launches?

If you’re interested in trying it out, you can grab the mod via Bethesda or read about it further at the official NVIDIA blog.

Either way, we’ll have to wait until PAX West starts to see Nvidia’s new mod in action, so if you’re heading to PAX West and are curious about what the mod looks like, try and check it out! The truth is deep within Vault 1080, through a whole lot of fearful mystery.
