Tyler Anderson, Rockies top Dodgers to open doubleheader
Ross Stripling, who was originally slated to start the Wednesday day game, will start Game 1 of the doubleheader, against Tyler Anderson, who took the mound Tuesday night for the Rockies but never threw a pitch, as the delay began during first-inning warmups.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Dodgers are -140 money line favorites versus the Rockies, who have odds of +120 to pull off the upset tonight at home. Japanese right-hander Kenta Maeda will make his fourth start against Colorado – he is 2-1 with a 1.45 ERA in the first three meetings – and try to cool off Arenado and the Rockies.
May 1, 2014 at Minnesota In what might be the coldest trip in recent memory for the Dodgers, they win the opener 9-4.
When the Dodgers halted his year midstream in order to preserve his rising innings total, it wasn’t just to cool the kid’s jets.
Gray’s pitches were sharp, allowing him to breeze through the Dodgers lineup.
“The pitches that I’ve gotten hurt on have been big misses, and that’s not something that I’ve done a lot in my career”, Hoffman said.
“I feel like sometimes you can out-aggressive people”. All three runs scored in the fourth inning after Brandon Belt reached on an RBI single and Joe Panik hit a two-run home run.
Stripling is at 76 1/3 innings with the Dodgers in his first big-league stint. A minor-league start may be the next step in his rehabilitation. That doesn’t count all the work he did to incorporate his lower half into the mix.
I always have trouble picking the second game of a doubleheader without knowing the result of game 1, as teams usually split the two games. He was called up earlier in the week due to a rash of injuries in the Dodgers’ starting rotation and he failed to achieve a quality start. All three of those series victories have come against division leaders, with Washington becoming the latest victim by losing two of three over the weekend, and Colorado will try to rise to another challenge with the Dodgers in town.
And he has averaged barely over 5 1/3 innings in those four starts, although he did go seven innings on August 12 against the Pirates. Weiss said following the game.
“It’s certainly coming down to crunch time, two months left, a two-game lead, big starts and the bullpen is taxed going into these couple of starts before September”, Stripling said, showing how acutely aware he is of what is at stake.

The Dodgers almost got through the season without a doubleheader, but here we are. “So, depending on how he comes out of it, we’ll make a decision”, Roberts explained. “And that’s the key, especially pitching here”. “It’s been interesting but for the most part I have been fine, I’ve been pretty fluid and really haven’t had any problems”. But the club thinks their young right-hander can give it to them Wednesday. The Dodgers have won six of their past nine games and are 14-12 this month.
