Kvitova, a three-time Connecticut Open victor, needed a little over an hour to take the match 6-3, 6-2 from Bouchard, who was entered in the tournament on a wild card. The title is Radwanska’s second this season after taking the Shenzhen Open in China in January.

The world’s fourth-ranked player had an easy time in the first set, but needed a break in the ninth game of the second set to secure the win over the 30-year-old Flipkens, who struggled with an injury to her left hand.
“I didn’t expect that quick of a match, that’s for sure”, Radwanska said. I was pushing myself 100 percent from the first round, working hard.
The Polish star didn’t drop a set during the tournament.
“She always plays this way”. The balls are really low, and they’re like skidding a little bit. “She was at her best”. And me, I was a bit up and down all the time. Radwanska took hold of the set through the service game by winning 12 of 14 (86%) first serve points and 7 of 15 (47%) second serves. She was more patient and more aggressive on important points.
The win moves the Czech into the quarter-finals and improves her overall record at the tournament to a brilliant 17-2.
“I’m just trying to keep it up and play the same level in NY”.
Svitolina, 21, had a chance to get even in the match with Radwanska serving at 5-6, 15-40 in the second set.
“Winning a tournament like this without losing a set means I really played good tennis, and I played against top players”, Radwanska said. Radwanska netted a forehand of her own to put Svitolina level at 5-all.
In the doubles final, India’s Sania Mirza and Romania’s Monica Niculescu defeated the Ukraine’s Kateryna Bondarenko and Taiwan’s Chuang Chia-jung 7-5, 6-4.
In other 2016 Connecticut Open semifinal results, the team of doubles world no. 1 Sania Mirza and doubles world no. 16 Monica Niculescu reach their first finals appearance as a doubles team.

“I need a couple of games to find my rhythm”, Kvitova said. We kind of found our rhythm nearly immediately.
