Ryan Lochte calls Rio police’s version of events ‘absurd’

Rio police said in a statement they had recommended that prosecutors bring charges against Lochte for falsely reporting a crime – a minor misdemeanor normally punishable by a fine.

Lochte – along with United States team-mates Gunnar Bentz, Jack Conger and Jimmy Feigen – alleged they were robbed at gunpoint at a petrol station after attending a party.

Disgraced Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte is joining the “Dancing With the Stars” cast, ABC television announced on Tuesday, as the gold medalist said he thought reaction to his tale about being held up at a Rio de Janeiro gas station had been blown out of proportion.

“I was still going through the emotions of, you know, having a gun pulled on me, and I’m human”, Lochte said.

“I just want to move forward and want the whole world to move forward”, Lochte said. “It’s been dragged out way too long”.

The United States Olympic Committee, USOC, said regarding its standard security protocol; “We do not make athlete travel plans public and therefore can not confirm the athletes’ current location”. “It is my fault.’ I’m taking full responsibility for this and I will pay that back if he will let me”, Lochte said. “There are other issues the world needs to deal with”.

The thing that I told that wasn’t true was having the gun pointed to my forehead and cocked.

Ryan Lochte is the new face of getting out of trouble ― no, seriously. Still facing charges from Brazilian authorities over the incident, Lochte has also recently lost four sponsorships from Speedo, Ralph Lauren, Syneron-Candela and Airweave, but gained Pine Bros. cough drops, which he’ll represent in a campaign of “Forgiving On Your Throat”.

“We all make mistakes, but they’re rarely given front page scrutiny”, Pine Bros Chief Executive Rider McDowell said in a statement on Thursday.

He then added: ‘I don’t think that’s realistic.

Rio Special Service tourist commissioner, Clemente Braune, confirmed the International Olympic Committee’s Ethics Commission will receive a formal indictment for Lochte, just as the United States will also be served a formal letter requesting the U.S. judicial system’s cooperation in summoning Lochte to Brazil.

As for why he lied at all, Lochte said he was “still intoxicated”.
