The shooting took place just before 3:30 p.m.at a Linwood Street home, where Plymouth District Attorney Timothy Cruz told the Boston Globe two young boys were playing.
Aerial footage shows law enforcement officials outside and around a home on Linwood Street.
WFXT reports that the boy accidentally shot himself.
Chief of Police David Majenski said an investigation by police and the DA’s office is ongoing.
“We believe he’s doing okay right now, but any gun shot wound is risky and anything can happen”, said Cruz.
It’s not known whether there were any adults in the home at the time.
No further details on the incident are now available.

The child is in stable condition and is being taken to South Shore Hospital by a medical helicopter. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to that little boy’s safety”.
