Anthony Griffiths (59), from Culmore, was last seen on Monday on the Isle of Doagh in Inishowen where he had been a camping trip with his family.
Coastguard officers, lifeboat crews, Gardaí and civilian volunteers have all been taking part in this search operation in hard terrain.
The searches come a week after the body of Irish soldier Gavin Carey (28) was found off the coast of Co Donegal, north of Bundoran. It is understood the search may resume on Wednesday morning. He is 5ft 10, of medium build, with sandy covered hair and blue eyes.

The search is focusing on the area around Trawbreaga Bay, described as a vast area of water which is prone to large swells, exacerbated by inclement weather conditions.
