Pennsylvania State Police and officers from South Strabane surrounded a barn late Tuesday near the spot where a auto owned by the missing couple had been found.
Kevin Ewing had previously been arrested for holding his wife hostage for nearly two weeks starting in late June. She informed the teller there about what her husband was doing to her, and the teller phoned the police.
According to CBS Pittsburgh, late on Tuesday night, law enforcement officials swarmed the area.
Tierne Ewing had staples a home remedy closing a cut on her head that she told police was the result of her husband hitting her with a wooden gun stock.
Ewing, who the New York Daily News mentioned had treated his wife in a sadistic manner, was then taken into custody by the police at approximately 11 p.m.
Online court records show Kevin Ewing is wanted on charges that include kidnapping, terroristic threats and weapons violations.
Court of Common Pleas Judge Gary Gilman did not increase the amount but ordered Ewing confined to his home with an electronic ankle tracking bracelet.
The newspaper reported the judge had ordered that the bracelet have Global Positioning System capabilities to track Ewing’s movements, though adult probation officials have told The Associated Press the device was only programmed to alert authorities if Ewing left his home. Sapida learned that no one was notified when the ankle bracelet was cut. On July 15. Assistant District Attorney Kristin Clingerman filed an emergency motion asking to keep Kevin Ewing in jail by increasing his bail.
In an interview with the New York Daily News, Kopko called Ewing nuts.
Brenda McCullough, whose own daughter grew up with Tierne, said her heart breaks for Tierne’s parents, children and her two young grandchildren. The office said an autopsy is pending as Ewing remains on a ventilator until a decision about organ donation is made.
The police searched for Ewing overnight on Monday going into Tuesday, when they discovered his silver Honda parked in a wooded area at around 9 a.m.
