National anthem is icon of patriotism, protest

A Gold Star mom who lost her son in an IED attack in Afghanistan told CNN that her heart stopped and she lost her breath when Kaepernick said he couldn’t stand for the flag.

“I apologize for misspeaking my true sentiments”. To clarify, I support Colin’s motivation. “And you know, maybe he should find a country that works better for him”.

It would be interesting enough for Kaepernick to play in San Diego any time after his toxic attitude and disrespectful behavior toward flag and country became known.

It’s not my intention to get into that discussion, because both sides make good points that I agree with.

Nothing was said to any of these people including me. “It’s about the value of the lives of people of color in America”.

The San Francisco 49ers quarterback sparked controversy during the NFL’s preseason by sitting instead of standing during the “Star-Spangled Banner”. They were simply apparently choosing as a family to not stand for the anthem and even had a chuckle when the group performing the song faltered on one of the high notes. That’s because while I may not like their action or choice of inaction and apparent lack of respect of our country and the freedom we have to not show honor for what this country says it represents, it’s still their right to do so.

“I only wish Mr. Kaepernick could see the emotional and psychological challenges that our officers face following a fatal encounter”, Halloran wrote. “@Kaepernick7 is an American hero”. “I will stop whatever I am doing, because I recognize that I have to be very thankful to be in this country”.

As some of Kaepernick’s teammates noted Sunday, many are offended by his bold move – one he plans to continue indefinitely.

Kaepernick’s supporters have started the hashtag #VeteransForKaepernick, which CNN says started trending worldwide Tuesday, and several veterans and service members piped up in defense of Kaepernick.
