Sony will be holding its IFA event on Thursday, set to start at 4:30pm IST, and the company is widely expected to launch its smartphones Xperia X Compact and Xperia XZ. Huawei, on the other hand, is due to present a replacement for its Mate S, revealed at last year’s IFA, as well as a new smartwatch. IFA 2016 is scheduled to take place from September 2 to September 7.

The images released by Xperia Blog don’t give away much but it seems Sony will introduce its own range of accessories and smart covers for the smartphones.

Earlier leaks suggested that Xperia X Compact will feature a 4.6-inch display, will be powered by a Snapdragon 820 SoC, either 3GB or 4GB of RAM. In a bid to “defy expectations” Huawei on September 1 will present an event and may announce a phone or tablet with a curved edge. Though ASUS announced the ZenFone 3 series at Computex, it could unveil a mid-tier offering at IFA.

The new LG V20, which is set to be one of the first phones to ship with the next version of Android’s mobile operating system – 7.0 Nougat – is also expected to be shown off during the event, which was visited by more than 245,000 people previous year.

Besides than just tablets and mobile phones, IFA is also becoming a wearables show. With Lenovo sent to attend the IFA 2016 event, the Chinese tech giant is expected to come in with a camera module to add to the Moto Insta-Share protector, Incipio offGRID Power Pack and JBL SoundBoost speaker we already know of.

What else do you think will show up at the IFA 2016? According to the rumours, there will be three variants – the Classic, the Explorer and the Frontier. Unlike the Gear S3, ASUS will go for Android Wear as the OS to power the watch. The latest version of Samsung’s Tizen smartwatch is likely to be one of the better smartwatches for this upcoming year.
