Dove season is upon Los Banos
As hunters gather together to participate in opening day of dove hunting season on September 3, the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission reminds everyone to always practice safety and responsibility while in the field. The tiny critters are fast, erratic, and their movements are highly unpredictable, especially when shot is flying through the air.

Dove numbers in West Virginia tend to hold fairly steady.
The S.C. Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR) Board has approved all migratory bird hunting seasons for 2016-2017. The places that are generally hunted by them won’t be ready this year. Typically a freshly mowed field where seeds have fallen to the ground or a fresh picked cornfield are strong places to seek cover and start scanning the horizon. Sussex County Wildlife Areas Dove Dove hunting will be available on the Assawoman and Nanticoke wildlife areas over sunflower fields.

The CDFW press release read that that should be no shortage of mourning doves for the opener, which, despite the drought, are capable of exploiting many food types and sources and are dry environment birds. And with this year’s El Niño bringing extra moisture to the drought-ridden state, conditions are looking the best in four years, according to wildlife officials. Various public wildlife areas in each of Delaware’s counties are open to dove hunting, including some areas specifically managed to attract doves.
