The Cupertino-based tech giant has started sending out press invites for a product launch event scheduled for September 7, where the iPhone 7 (and maybe a new Apple Watch ) will be officially unveiled. The rumours surrounding Apple’s plans for headphones and the iPhone 7 have intensified again, with fresh reports that the firm is preparing to do away with the headphone jack.
Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, venue of the grand launch has a seating capacity that can occupy about 7,000 people.
Also, the way Earpods are described as “Earpods with Lightning Connector” suggests there won’t be upgrade to the quality of the headphone themselves, other than the change of ports. With the innovative concept, the company focuses on making its later iPhones variants slimmer.
A set of images that surfaced online, claiming to be of Apple’s EarPods with lightning connector, seems to confirm this. LeEco, a Chinese manufacturer also launched three smartphones without the 3.5mm jack this year.
But Apple is not leaving users with legacy 3.5mm audio devices frustrated.
As per some latest reports, the iPhone 7 will feature a 4.7-inch 3D touch display, while the iPhone 7 Plus is expected to feature a large 5.5-inch display. TheiPhone 6S did use a 3.5mm jack for standard headphones.
