Jeffrey Grafton’s pickup was stolen by Jonathan Grafton, and the vehicle’s Global Positioning System led Jeffrey Grafton and his cousin Pritchard, who was a lieutenant for the Sapulpa Police Department, to a Midwest City motel, Clabes said.
An Oklahoma City man has been killed in a motorcycle crash in Midwest City.
He said Pritchard and Jeffrey Grafton had traveled from Sapulpa to repossess a 2000 pickup that had been taken by Jonathan Grafton without permission from his father.
First-degree murder warrants have been issued for the arrest of Grafton’s son, 22-year-old Jonathan Grafton, and the younger Grafton’s girlfriend, 21-year-old Daphne Mason, Clabes said. KFOR Officers found the men dead in this motel room at around 10 p.m. on Saturday night, police said.
He said police received information that after Pritchard and Jeffrey Grafton arrived at the motel, the elder Grafton went into the room to confront his son.
Clabes says police are searching for witnesses to the crash.
The son pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled unsafe substance and drug paraphernalia in June, according to the World. But investigators believe the murders revolved around the truck, Clabes told the TV station.
Both Jonathan Grafton and Mason are believed to be from the Sapulpa area, Clabes said.
The chief added: “It’s sad when anybody loses their life”.
The flag outside the Sapulpa Police Department was lowered to half-staff to honor Pritchard, a veteran of the force who served for more than 15 years. “He loved the community”.
