Stranger Things Season 2 confirmed for 2017 debut

“Stranger Things” fans have been in binge-watch withdrawal since they finished streaming Season One of Netflix’s surprise smash series. What with all the awesome shows we have already and the pending return of Tales from the Crypt, it appears as if we will have even more Stranger Things.

Season one of the supernatural drama follows the search for a boy who mysteriously disappears in a small, in town.

The brothers also told EW.com that the show will add four new characters and venture “a little bit” outside Hawkins, Ind.

Season 2 will premiere in 2017 and will have nine episodes. So, why are they continuing the story instead of going down the road of an anthology series, as some people have surmised? In fact, he felt that it was best to really leave that up in the air for now.

I don’t think we ever thought anthology. We can assume that season 2 will feature another baddie, but just how many new monsters are lurking in the Upside Down is unknown. “So we definitely want to explore a little bit more”.

The trailer – viewable below – portrays an episode listing (for what will be a 9-episode season) which is certain to get the super-fans thinking up a storm. Executive producers Shawn Levy, Dan Cohen, and the Duffer brothers are all still on board as well.

The Upside Down will continue to play a big role in Season 2.. After all, season 2 is not slated to come out until we roll around to 2017.

Fans also have the lingering questions after season 1 of whether or not Demogorgon was the only monster.

We’ll get to see a return to the Upside Down in season two, so there’s that to look forward to as well. So we’ve opened up this doorway, and to us it’s exciting to talk about, like, what else is behind there? There’s a lot more mystery there to be solved’.
