4 local colleges make Princeton Review ‘best’ list

The lists and rankings are based on surveys of 143,000 students across the country, in which they rated such topics as financial aid and on-campus food.

“Virginia Tech is a school with a reputation as big as its campus”, wrote the magazine, according to a release from the school.

The review’s “best colleges” compendium comes from institutional data and administrator surveys. It also captured seventh place rankings in “happiest students”, “lots of race/class interactions” and “town-gown relations are great”.

POULTNEY-The Princeton Review recognized Green Mountain College’s exceptional commitment to sustainability today in its annual rankings of the most environmentally responsible “green” colleges. “We also keep a wide representation of colleges in the book by region, size, selectivity and character”.

The Princeton Review’s 2017 edition of The Best 381 Colleges guidebook recognizes Susquehanna’s Global Opportunities (GO) program in which students study off campus in a culture different from their own, for at least two weeks or as long as a semester. It ranks first for Everyone Plays Intramural Sports. It has been in existence for more than 30 years. And they cite RIT’s National Technical Institute for the Deaf as “providing incredible accommodations for deaf and hard-of-hearing students who attend the university, including notetaking, interpreters and CPrint technology”.

“Students regularly praise the “importance of community” and “making a difference in the world, ‘” the profile continues”.

The school was also ranked No. 17 on a list of the least attractive campuses, a longtime gripe of students and the community, and No. 10 on list of the least LGBTQ-friendly schools.
