While his play was a bit rusty, Romo revitalized the Cowboys and brought a new energy to a bunch that had previously lost seven straight games.

The last time the Cowboys saw the Dolphins was arguably the most exciting game of their entire 2015 season, the return of Tony Romo.
Dallas got its roster to 75 on Tuesday by keeping rookie linebacker Jaylon Smith on the non-football injury list, sidelining him at least the first six weeks of the season.
Romo was initially expected to miss 6-10 weeks after breaking a bone in his back, but it appears it will be closer to 8-10 weeks. So you’ve got to have him through the 53 cut before you can put him on designated to return, if we wanted to consider that.
Noted quarterback whisperer and self-appointed guru Jon Gruden – who is absolutely never wrong about these kind of things – has some high praise for Cowboys rookie quarterback Dak Prescott. In 10 starts with the Rams in 2014, Davis threw for 2,001 yards and 12 touchdowns. “I always knew he would be successful, but it is impressive to see him play so well so early”.
Last season with the Browns, Davis competed with Johnny Manziel for starting time when Josh McCown dealt with a number of injuries, but he was only able to start two games. “We’ll be needing to make that decision obviously sometime later in the weekend”.
“He’s very driven to do what it takes to get back”, Jones said of Romo. I think Steven A. Smith has made some good points but he is also allowing his hate for the Cowboys cloud his judgement.
Prescott has looked strong in the preseason thus far. The Cowboys can’t afford to lose Prescott for any amount of time.

I think the Cowboys would be thrilled if Prescott could go 3-3 until Romo returns to the lineup. But it may be we keep him on the roster.
