“I look forward to building upon the significant progress in the USA and continuing the innovation and collaboration among our owner-operators, suppliers and employees to take McDonald’s to the next level”, Mr. Kempczinski said.

In an official statement, CEO Steve Easterbrook highlighted Mr. Andres’ efforts to help McDonald’s retain its share of the market.

“McDonald’s has taken a number of steps to reinvent itself and jump-start its business over the past year and a half, but the gains have started to slow”, Bomkamp continues in a piece rich with details. “From significant strides in food quality to meaningful customer initiatives like all-day breakfast and forging an even stronger partnership between USA operators and the company, his commitment to our customers is unmistakable”. “Americans also are eating out less, compounding the slowdown”.

Kempczinski holds a Harvard MBA and an undergraduate degree in public policy and economics from Duke.

The leadership change comes under CEO Steve Easterbrook, who took over a year ago and is trying to step up the image of McDonald’s burgers and fries while fending off a growing number of competitors. He was president of global at Kraft Foods Group.

Since taking over in March 2015, Easterbrook has been overhauling the world’s largest restaurant chain.

The headline over Sozzi’s story is: “McDonald’s Has Lost The Mastermind Of Its Epic U.S. Turnaround”.

This is change is the second major one in the organization announced in August by McDonalds. Andres began his McDonald’s career managing a family-owned outlet in Northern California. After that, he served as chief executive and chairman of the Logan’s Roadhouse restaurant chain from 2012 to 2014. Doug Goare the president of worldwide markets will now be the chief restaurant officer with additional duties that were overseen previously by the retiring Bensen.

McDonald’s has moved to simplify its ingredients and satisfy increasingly conscientious customers. Boston Consulting Senior Partner Lucy Brady will take Kempczinski’s place overseeing strategy and business development.

Chief Executive Officer Steve Easterbrook said that the company thanks Mike for all his contributions, it is confident that Chris is the leader the company needs to build upon the progress that has been made in the US and bring a higher level of excitement and convenience to our overall restaurant experience.
