Tech giant Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) will hold a product-launch event next Wednesday, according to invitations sent out to press on Monday.

Apple confirmed Monday that it will have a media event on September 7, at which it is expected to introduce a new iPhone and probably a new version of Apple Watch.

The iPhone 7 launch is expected to last for between 90 minutes and two hours, and will likely reveal the new smartphone in full, plus when pre-orders open and when the phone will finally go on sale.

The new iPhone 7 may have a dual rear camera, a pressure-sensitive home button, Bluetooth-supported headphones, dual speakers at the bottom and Type-C interface (remember LeEco?), signalling the end of the 3.5 mm headphone jack in the iPhone family. Whether you’re in the market for a new iPhone or for another Apple product, you should never walk into the Apple store and purchase a product when you know that a new version is just weeks from being introduced.

The Sept. 7 event may also be an opportunity for Apple to unveil an update to the Apple Watch.

iPhone users may no longer have to worry about mistakenly dropping their phones in water.

Rumors say that as per usual practice, Samsung will source cameras from both its own in-house models and also from Sony, the traditional supplier for high-end camera modules.

This year’s iPhone launch event will start at 6pm United Kingdom time and will be live streamed on the company’s website.

Owners of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus units afflicted by the alleged design defect dubbed “Touch IC Disease” won’t get much aid from the Genius Bar, but a USA law firm is looking to help users take Apple to court. The company is now rumored to be offering customers the option to buy phones up to 256GB and is also getting rid of the 16GB model.

This is another sign that Apple will remove the audio jack from the iPhone 7, forcing buyers to use wireless headphones, plug their existing headphones into the Lightning port using an adapter, or get headphones that plug straight into the Lightning port. As far as the Apple watch is concerned, the new model is likely to have the same design but might add in faster internals and Global Positioning System, which would be handy for running.
