The Gear S3 smartwatch, released at the IFA technology trade show in Berlin, features some iterative updates on the Gear S2, including a bigger screen, a Global Positioning System signal, and a 4G-enabled model.The company launched two additions to its smartwatch range, the Frontier and the Classic, which are slightly larger than the Gear S2 and more outdoor-friendly.

The new LG V20, which is set to be one of the first phones to ship with the next version of Android’s mobile operating system – 7.0 Nougat – is also expected to be shown off during the event, which was visited by more than 245,000 people previous year. Both models also support 22m watch bands.
It will come in two designs – a rugged, outdoorsy version called the Gear S3 Frontier, and a more minimalist and elegant model known as Gear S3 Classic. This is a significant improvement from last year’s models which only offered 250mAh and 300mAh battery power.
The smartwatch will run Tizen, the smartphone focused OS with two 1 GHz processors. Gear S3 Classic comes with a stainless steel design and has a polished silver look, while the Frontier has a matte finish black. Both are imbued with plenty of sensors, such as an accelerometer, gyrometer, barometer and heart rate monitor. It’s nearly identical to Gear S3 Classic specifications-wise. Ng noted there will be 10,000 S3-compatible apps by the time the S3 goes on sale. Waterproof protection is provided together with the Gear S3, since the smartwatch comes with IP68 certification, however the smartwatch isn’t recommended for swimming and diving. One of the biggest anxieties faced by smartwatch owners is battery drain. With the new update, Samsung is focusing more intently on offering what people crave most, including functionality, design, and fitness features.
For display, it has 400 by 400 resolution or about 287ppi.
While Chinese manufacturing giant Huawei will look to make further strides in Europe by introducing a new version of their wearable, the Huawei Watch, as well as another instalment in their Mate line of smartphones.
