Clinton’s Plummeting Popularity on Par With Trump

At the American Legion’s annual convention in Cincinnati, the Democratic presidential nominee called the United States an “exceptional nation”, and accused Republican rival Donald Trump of thinking that approach is “insulting to the rest of the world”.

Though Clinton was more subtle in her attacks on Trump in front of the audience of veterans, she did blast the businessman-turned-politician for what she said were his insults toward the military, attacking the family of a soldier killed in action and being too cozy with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“The race for the White House has narrowed”, Fox news said, adding that its latest poll finds that Trump is gaining ground in the head-to-head matchup, despite improvements from Clinton on top issues.

The speech came as Trump made a last-minute trip to Mexico hours before he was to deliver a long-expected immigration speech. Clinton had flirted with running a more robust campaign in Arizona, where an influx of Hispanic voters – who vote overwhelmingly Democratic – has given the party hope in recent elections.

Clinton’s investment states like Arizona and Georgia – another state the campaign pledged to spend more on organizing – is less about a sure-fire belief that Clinton will win them, but rather to expand the battleground map and make Trump fight hard for those two red states.
