His comments came after North Korea test-fired a ballistic missile from a submarine off its east coast on August 24.

“An all-out war with the USA imperialists could happen without warning, and in preparation for a nuclear war, the nuclear weapons development of the military sciences department must be accelerated, while at the same time it focuses on their means of delivery”, Kim had said Wednesday, according to North Korea state media.

“I call on you to maintain a robust posture to retaliate.to make sure that any attempt by the North at engaging in any form of provocations will lead to the self-destruction of the North Korean regime”, Park told government authorities on Monday.

In a press statement issued Friday night, the 15-member Council also strongly condemned North Korea’s ballistic missile launches conducted on August.

A Foreign Ministry statement sent to United Nations correspondents on Monday reiterated a warning that the U.S. The South Korean military said the missile flew about 500 kilometers toward Japan, making the longest flight by such a missile launched by the communist country.

He said that the latest submarine-launched missile didn’t cause any harm to the security of neighboring countries.

The lawmakers’ push for a more robust response to the North comes amid questions over the reliability of the U.S. Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) anti-missile system due to be deployed to South Korea next year.

The latest submarine launch of a ballistic missile on Wednesday came days after the USA and South Korea began military exercises, prompting North Korean threats of retaliation for the military drills, which it views as a rehearsal for invasion by the USA and other adversaries.

Its development of reliable submarine-launched missiles would add a weapon that is harder to detect before launch.

The council said these were all “in grave violation” of United Nations resolutions banning the use of ballistic missile technology.

The members of the Council went on to stress the importance of working to reduce tensions in the Korean Peninsula and beyond, and agreed to closely monitor the situation and take further significant measures in line with its previously expressed determination.
