He said “recovery time will be significant”.

ESPN posted a Teddy Bridgewater video and Adam Schefter reported on the injury. Let’s hope Bridgewater makes a full recovery. There was even a small group of players that huddled around Bridgewater and appeared to be praying over him.

Zimmer said Bridgewater had been sedated and was getting an MRI on the knee. Although he has looked OK this preseason, at this point in his career, he’s a backup, not a guy leading a team with championship aspirations.

The Vikings immediately stopped practice after 25 minutes and asked reporters to leave the field while medical personnel tended to Bridgewater. He’s one of the most likable players in the league. Several threw their helmets to the ground, including guard Brandon Fusco and linebacker Eric Kendricks. (Bridgewater) wasn’t saying much.

“Sometimes the worst things happen to the best (people)”, Vikings receiver Jarius Wright tweeted.

As a result, expect the Vikings to explore the possibility to brining in a veteran free agent quarterback.

But with the move of Justin Britt to center and the solid play of backup Joey Hunt in the preseason, Lewis became expendable. He has been in two-minute drills. We got some great football players on this team. This isn’t about a one-man deal. “We all feel awful if it is real significant for Teddy”. The injury to Bridgewater does mean the Packers will have less of a concern when it comes to fighting off a scrappy Minnesota team, but this is really big news for the division’s two other members. Taylor Heinicke is also on the roster but still recovering from an ankle injury sustained last month.

Also included in the announcement was the re-signing of quarterback Brad Sorensen.

Coach Mike Zimmer faces a challenge trying to get his team ready for Thursday’s final preseason game against the Rams and then the regular season.

With Bridgewater heading to injured reserve, the Vikings re-signed quarterback Brad Sorensen, whom they had added to the roster after Bridgewater was held out of the team’s second preseason game in Seattle on August 18 with a sore shoulder.

That was the first game in spanking new U.S. Bank Stadium, and optimism was running high. Tuesday, though, was a real downer for a team that has aspirations of winning the Super Bowl. Among quarterbacks that have successfully returned from ACL injuries are Sam Bradford, Robert Griffin III, Philip Rivers and Tom Brady, all of whom are still starters on their respective teams. Does it help your playoff chances? No.

About 2½ hours after the injury, Zimmer tried to straddle the line between expressing concern for a beloved teammate and keeping the rest of his team from losing focus and confidence.
