Tom Brady will start vs. Giants; Jimmy Garoppolo won’t play

According to Tom Curran, Brady will start tonight’s contest against the New York Giants.

All three quarterbacks traveled to the game, and Belichick has said that all could benefit from playing.

Jimmy Garappolo will start in Brady’s place during the suspension.

“It’s always up to Coach [Bill] Belichick, but I mean I love playing”. Going out and putting up a touchdown against New England’s backups wouldn’t do much for morale, so look for business as usual out of the Giants in this fourth preseason game. I think these [regular-season] games, even though they’re not right on the doorstep, they are still an important part of his preparation and the team’s preparation with him at quarterback. “That’s why we do it”.

So while Belichick has made it clear that getting Garoppolo ready for the September 11 regular-season opener at Arizona was the team’s priority, that doesn’t mean it’s an all-or-nothing type of deal. This is Brady’s last chance to play in a game until he returns from his four-game suspension for Week 5 against the Browns. “If Brady plays snaps at QB, it will mark the first time he’s done so in a preseason finale since 2011”.

It’s not known exactly how long the Giants’ starting defense will play, but the players should get a little extra juice from the matchup with Brady.
