Trump talks tough on immigration
Speaking at a rally in Wilmington, Ohio, Trump says that, as president, he would “treat everyone with dignity, respect and compassion”. He piled on in the months to come, attacked the country over trade, illegal immigration and border security.

Those here illegally have “one route and one route only: To return home and apply for reentry like anybody else”. He has no leverage right now, he’s not President of the United States.
U.S. Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump addresses a running campaign at the Phoenix Convention Center in Phoenix of Arizona Aug. 31, 2016.
Trump says that he expects to win the crucial battleground state of OH in November. He is not offering any details.
“I don’t understand what’s going on here, and I really apologise for our president taking this step forward”.
The rest of Trump’s event also seemed programmed to highlight his anti-illegal-immigration credentials.
Nieto said he told Trump that Mexico would not be paying for any border wall. He says they will all be subject to deportation.
For people caught crossing the border illegally, Trump referenced the 1950s-era “Operation Wetback”.
Consistent with the law-and-order theme he has emphasized, Trump vowed a “zero tolerance” policy toward criminals living in the U.S. illegally. The police “know who these people are”, he insisted, conjuring images of officers rounding up people based on suspicions and prejudices.
In his speech, the billionaire repeatedly called attention to the crimes of some undocumented immigrants and drew on stories of Americans killed by undocumented immigrants, bringing parents of some of those victims on stage to share their graphic and heart-wrenching tales of loss.
Like expected, Donald Trump had a totally different approach on illegal immigrants and mass deportation in this Wednesday’s speech, compared to his attitude from the primaries.
He also promised to build “a handsome wall” across the entire U.S. -Mexico border and create a “deportation task force” that would eventually guarantee that “the bad ones are gone”. “That is what it means to have law”, Trump said, meaning that likely well over 11 million people are today living in heightened and desperate fear.
To be sure, Trump’s daylong foray across the border and back was a bold gamble, reflecting his urgent need to shake up his race against Democrat Hillary Clinton. These points suggest Trump plans to deport many more than 2 million people.
Both of the surrogates expressed distaste after Trump’s speech Wednesday night on immigration in Phoenix, in which he buckled down on the issue and promised mass deportation of immigrants in the country illegally. He claimed that he and Peña Nieto didn’t discuss who would build his proposed big, handsome border wall, a claim that Peña Nieto is merrily wrecking on Twitter.
He talked about beatings and stabbings of young women, then said simply, “It’s not going to happen anymore”.
And John Podesta, her campaign chairman, said in a statement: “It turns out Trump didn’t just choke, he got beat in the room and lied about it”.
The majority (71%) of people believed to be living in the USA illegally hail from Mexico, with 54% of “illegal aliens” believed to be living in just four states; Florida, California, Texas and NY, according to MigrationPolicy.org.
Kaine saId: “I think diplomacy is primarily about honesty and candor, and standing up for the values that you believe in”.
Despite comments to the contrary from Peña Nieto after their meeting in Mexico City, Trumped claimed that if he enters the White House he will immediately begin plans for the construction of a border wall that Mexico will pay for.
Reading from a teleprompter in Cincinnati, Trump thanked Peña Nieto “for his gracious hospitality”.
