Colin Kaepernick Wears Practice Socks Mocking Police
Kaepernick later explained that his movie was a protest against unfair treatment of people of color by police in America, which unsurprisingly didn’t go over so well with the “love it or leave it” crowd.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) – San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick says he has been wearing socks depicting police officers as pigs in protest of “rogue cops” who put the community and other officers at risk.
“It’s just ridiculous that the same league that prohibits the Dallas (Cowboys) football club from honoring the slain officers in their community with their uniforms stands silent when Kaepernick is dishonoring police officers with what he’s wearing on the field”, Bill Johnson, executive director of the National Association of Police Organizations (a coalition of police unions and associations from across the country), told USA TODAY Sports.
The debate continued to burn throughout the week and even spread to Kaepernick’s socks. “I have two uncles and friends who are police officers and serve ALL people. So before those socks, which were worn before I took my public stance, are used to distract from the real issues, I wanted to address this immediately”.
“I don’t think we’d have a player like him, frankly, I think he’d be booed out or the owners would be forced to not accept someone like him”, he said.
Kaepernick hasn’t been asked about his socks yet, but it wouldn’t be shocking to find out that it’s part of his statement that he’s trying to make against police brutality.

Kaepernick, who says he will not pay tribute to the flag of a nation that oppresses minorities, kneeled during “The Star Spangled Banner” at the game in San Diego against the Chargers, which was also the team’s annual Military Night honoring USA service members. There’s things we can do to hold them more accountable. The socks are not the first apparel that Kaepernick has worn to make a statement. Many who have said Kaepernick was disrespectful for sitting during the Anthem are now pointing to this as another such incident.
