A school district in northeast Wisconsin is dealing with mold in one of its buildings. The West Shore School District announced the closure on it’s website late Tuesday evening.

The distinct says a Green Bay cleaning service is taking care of the mold, but not all classrooms were ready for the September 1 start date. An inspection above the ceiling revealed condensation from an insulated, cold water, air conditioning pipe as the likely source of mold.

Today crews obtained air quality samples to use as a baseline for comparison against air in the affected indoor areas.

Following the contractors’ recommended timeline for remediation and follow-up testing, the district said Cedar Cliff will remain closed Thursday and Friday, and will reopen Tuesday following a normal schedule. Upon inspection, Compliance Management International (CMI) confirmed the presence of mold. The school says the mold was tested and is *not* toxic, but cleanup of the mold is not yet finished. However, vo-tech students must provide their own transportation to the high school, the district said. At this time, all after-school activities will be held as planned.

The district says it plans to inspect other school buildings as well as a precautionary measure.
