The Rio Olympics have been filled with plenty of drama but while our athletes against all odds delivered an outstanding performance, the organizers and sports ministry have failed them greatly.

Sports Cabinet Secretary Hassan Wario disbanded the committee on Thursday and called for investigations into the Rio games saga.

Many team members remain here in Rio de Janeiro, it also emerged today, allegedly because the NOCK made a decision to wait in order to book cheaper flights.

“What Wario should do is not to disband NOCK, it is to resign, that is the most honourable thing”, said Wetangula.

The Sports Minister of the country has already announced that the government has disbanded the National Olympic Committee of Kenya.

Hassan Wario added that he had formed an investigation committee to carry out independent inquiries of the alleged mismanagement and present the report to him by September 30, 2016.

The athletics legend also denied that NOC-K officials were living large in Rio at the expense of the athletes, coaches and other officials. “NOCK officials assured that kits and accommodation were in place. It not only violates the Sports Act but also the Olympics Charter”, added Wario.

“Kenya was a major cricketing body, we are never short of talent but we seem to be short of good managers”.

He also ordered an investigation into the problems the team faced in Rio.
