When Samsung launched its latest Note family offering earlier this month in the form of Note 7, many of us were pretty excited as the device was everything any Android enthusiast would want.
Samsung said it is investigating reports of explosions after pictures of damaged phones were uploaded on local online communities, social media and YouTube.
According to Reuters, the company said it has made a decision to delay shipments of its high-end Galaxy Note 7 smartphone following reports of exploding batteries.
The Galaxy Note 7 received similar praise, raising expectations for strong sales in the second half.
For the phones sold in Korea and some overseas markets, ITM Semiconductor, a Korean firm, produces the battery pack.
The Samsung Note 7 is now in quality control and Samsung engineers have to quickly find out what the cause of the fires are.
“We are checking whether the deliveries were halted or not”, the Samsung official said.
Nonetheless, Samsung has seen much success so far in 2016, with huge sales from the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, alongside positive critical reception of the Galaxy Note 7.
Despite this lack of information, speculation is growing the quality control of Samsung’s premium device has to do with reports of exploding batteries. Many praised it for features like its curved display, waterproofing, and the iris scanner. The user claimed that the Galaxy Note 7 exploded while it was charging.
Samsung has said demand for the new phone is far exceeding demand, creating a shortage and forcing it to push back the launch in some markets.

“The timing could not be worse for Samsung”, said Roberta Cozza, research director at Gartner.
