Porsche 911 GT3 RS Unveiled In India at Porsche Bengaluru Central

The Porsche 911 GT3 RS is a cult auto – there’s no denying that and we adore its aero-shaped curves to the point where we’ve spent too many nights thinking about the track-destined Neunelfer when going to bed.

Like the rest of Porsche India’s range, the 911 range’s crown prince is a direct import from Germany. This engine produces 493.50bhp, along with 480Nm of peak torque, and it is mated to a PDK transmission.

Lighter in weight by around 10 kgs as compared to the 911 GT3, the RS trim receives 30 cm wide recess made of Carbon Fibre Reinforced Plastic extending over its magnesium roof, while carbon fiber is used in engine and luggage compartment lids along with other lightweight components contributing to its lower weight.

To further establish its credentials, GT3 RS has a set lap time of seven minutes and 20 seconds around North Loop of the Nuerburgring against its name.

The interiors of the vehicle looks similar to the GT3, but gets full bucket seats that are based on the 918 Spyder. Other standard features include the Club Sport Package with a bolted-on roll cage behind the front seats, preparation for a battery master switch, and separately provided six-point safety harness for the driver and fire extinguisher with mounting bracket. While available at the same time, the standard Sport Chrono Package stands to provide integrated timers along with clinical Porsche Track Precision app for a smartphone.

Track Precision app is also provided which measures the lap time via Global Positioning System.

The reason why the GT3 RS is so quick in the first place is because it’s 10 kg (22 lbs) lighter than the GT3 while also pushing down 500 PS and 460 Nm (338 lb-ft) of torque – resulting in a 0-100 km/h (62 mph) sprint time of just 3.3 seconds.

We’ve tried to get a price from Porsche India but to no avail; but since the 911 range starts at Rs 1.42 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi), you can use your imagination. The GT3 RS was unveiled at an event held at the Porsche Centre in Bengaluru.
