Seahawks take on Riders in Oakland for final preseason matchup
The Seattle Seahawks head into the Black Hole to take on the Oakland Raiders as both teams play in their exhibition finale. After Atkinson’s special teams score with 1:01 remaining, Oakland attempted an onside kick but couldn’t recover it. Russell Wilson went 1-of-3 passing, with his lone completion being a 23-yard pass to tight end Luke Willson. Over the weekend, Seattle will trim its roster down to 53 players before starting the week of preparation on Monday for the season opener against the Miami Dolphins on September 11. After George Atkinson III and Trevone Boykin traded fumbles, Oakland rookie quarterback Connor Cook was pressured on a rollout. It’s important for players to just get in the mindset of “I’m going to prepare to play” sometimes before the season starts.

The former Michigan State star responded with an up-and-down game, making nice throws on the run but also adding some very bad plays, such as the pick-six.

With most of Seattle’s starters only playing one series and the bulk of Oakland’s first-stringers sitting out the entire game, there was little star power on the field. Cook went 15 for 30 for 145 yards and one interception. The Seahawks will also look to stick it to both Ken Norton and Bruce Irvin who are alumni of the Seattle defensive factory and will get their first look at their former colleagues, albeit in preseason action.
