Jio will work on creating Jio Digital Entrepreneurship Hubs in key cities and towns of India.
“Jio will never charge for voice calls across India and messages”, announced Ambani while addressing RIL’s annual general meeting in Mumbai.
Reliance Jio data packs will come for Rs 50 for 1GB, around 5 paise per MB cheapest in the world.
In his speech, Ambani declared a price war by offering the world’s cheapest data tariffs costing as low as Rs. 25/Rs 50 per GB depending on user’s consumption.
The brand has lifted the veil over the tariff plans for its Reliance Jio services and it is definitely going to cause some chaos in the competition. Reliance Jio will provide free voice calls and remove blackout days and ensure more transparency in bills.
Ambani announced that there would be no roaming charges for customers for Jio customers.
“There are 22,000 telecom tariffs across country”. Jio plans to introduce 10 main plans. The first being that the customer should pay for only voice or data, secondly data must be affordable and finally, pricing structure should be simple. They are expected to increase the package with free voice calls to meet the Jio’s free voice calls and roaming services for users, with data priced at one-tenth of the prevailing market rates. “Today I start with the youngest member of the Reliance family, Jio”, said RIL chairman Mukesh Ambani.
The company’s management is targeting towards its 4G network covering 90 per cent of India’s 1.25 billion population by March 2017. Ambani said that there will be small packages starting from Rs. 19 for occasional data users. Other telecom operators have been wary of the service, offering new schemes and slashed data prices in an effort to counter the potential Jio onslaught. Instant eKYC digital activations can be done in the store or at home.
Jio’s network is being touted as the largest 4G LTE deployment anywhere in the world, Ambani said, adding that the network is also “future proof” with baked in support for upcoming 5G and 6G network technologies.
