ITV journalist Tom Bradby slams Greek customs officials and police after

Bradby, 48, who is the political editor for ITV and the main presenter of the channel’s News at Ten, was holidaying in Rafina on the east coast of Greece at the time with his family, when he saw the elderly man drive straight into the water.

He added: ‘So much for the Greek holiday trade being business as usual’.

Bradby explained on Twitter that he unsuccessfully attempted to rescue the man from his auto, writing that he “dived in, tried to help [and] couldn’t get him out”.

The 48-year-old took to his Twitter account to describe the harrowing incident.

Greece has seen a huge increase in suicides since its economic collapse. The rest just watched.

Prior to 2010, Greece had one of the lowest suicide rates in the world. There was a 35 per cent jump in the number of suicides among the population in less than two years since 2015, according to reports.

Bradby – a good friend of Prince William – has worked for ITN, the producer of ITV News, since 1990 when he joined the organisation as an editorial trainee. He has also established the well-regarded political show The Agenda and wrote the ITV drama The Great Fire.

He was previously a royal correspondent, and secured the first official interview with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge after their engagement.
