Bayern Munich’s Italian headcoach Carlo Ancelotti arrives for the German Cup (DFB Pokal) first round football match between the German first division team Bayern Munich and the German regional soccer team Carl Zeiss Jena at the stadium in Jena, eastern Germany, on August 19, 2016.

Bayern’s 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund in the Super Cup, curtain-raiser to a season that begins with the champions against Werder Bremen on Friday, assured him of that.

“I’m cautious because I have seen the last few years and have seen the quality of the players”, he told Omnisport.

Crucially, Dortmund also retained Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, the highly coveted Gabon worldwide who scored 25 goals last season, second only to Bayern’s Robert Lewandowski.

“Maybe we played that game with fear, but we won’t on Friday”, Skripnik said.

Bayern Munich Werder Bremen: how to pass the opening match of the new Bundesliga season?

Saturday night sees Borussia Moechengladbach host Bayer Leverkusen, two sides who finished in the top four last season and will represent Germany in the Champions League. He is predicting for older players like Arjen Robben, PhilippLahm, Franck Ribery and Xabi Alonso, all over 30 year, when it comes to mastering the demands of the many competitions.

Bayern, Hamann predicts, will get into trouble, when they are suffering from injuries.

“Ancelotti is a bit closer to the players”.

It has not taken long for praise for Ancelotti to include some criticism of Guardiola from within the Bayern camp. How many goals can he score this season?

“I support our coaches both in training and in pre-match preparations”, Davide said.

Leverkusen boast the most settled squad of last season’s top four; with no departures of any real substance, as Christoph Kramer was always re-joining Monchengladbach, while adding German forward Kevin Volland (below) from Hoffenheim, highly-rated Austrian centre-back Aleksandar Dragovic from Dynamo Kiev and the dependable midfield legs of Julian Baumgartlinger from Mainz.

In his 20-year career on the touchline, to Ancelotti’s credit, he has managed a wide range of strong personalities in the game – be it Zinedine Zidane, John Terry, Zlatan Ibrahimovic or Cristiano Ronaldo, every one of them has sung the 57-year-old’s praises. The role he may take in the Bayern team, and who he replaces, is still unclear.
