Patriots risking Tom Brady calamity in preseason finale

The New England Patriots made a decision to go a different route when it came to Tom Brady’s four-game suspension.

MI coach Jim Harbaugh told Rich Eison on Wednesday that Brady will serve as U-M’s honorary team captain for its September 17 home game against Colorado. Despite winning the third preseason game against the New York Jets, the Giants didn’t look all that impressive.

Brady got the game’s scoring going with a seven-yard touchdown pass to Keshawn Martin late in the first quarter, but couldn’t connect with Chris Hogan on the two-point conversion.

With the Giants up 10-6 to start the fourth, the Patriots, this time led by Jacoby Brissett at quarterback, threatened to take the lead. Brady is expected to play again this game but not as the starter. He played in the preseason finale for the first time since he came in to hold on an extra point in the second quarter of the 2014 preseason finale.

Brady had New England at the Giants 19 on the next series before running back D.J. Foster fumbled a screen pass. “It’s still an opportunity for us to go through the process and prepare like we’re going to have to play next week, mentally and situationally, and just playing 60 minutes of football, or coaching 60 minutes as the case applies”. Brady can not be around the team or have any contact with coaches or players during the suspension, which starts Saturday. The last Super Bowl champion to finish with a losing preseason record was … the Giants in 2007. Brady’s speech will follow those of Michael Jordan and Eisen, who will serve as honorary captains for Weeks 1 and 2, respectively. But he was happy to see the field Thursday night. But for now he seems to be a tough player with a lot of potential, which would be a nice addition to an offense that can never have too many speedy receivers with good hands catching passes. King led in receiving with 30 yards and two touchdowns while Roger Lewis had 20 yards.

In the regular season, however, the Giants and Patriots have met only 10 times since the merger of the NFL with what was then the American Football League in 1970.

One of the backs that McAdoo spoke about was rookie and fifth round selection Paul Perkins.

Tom isn’t the only star channeling the 90s – Hailey Baldwin just got a layered haircut that looks like Rachel Green from Friends, famously played by Jennifer Aniston. One: Brady still proving he is an elite quarterback may keep Garoppolo from being “the guy” beyond these four games. This is his last opportunity for game action until October 9 because he is suspended for the first four games of the regular season as a result of the Deflategate scandal.
