The U.N. human rights chief on Thursday called for an worldwide investigation of rights abuses and violence in Yemen’s civil war which has killed thousands of people, insisting that a domestic panel set up to look into violations has not been up to the task.

Yemen’s dominant Shiite Houthi group and its allies said Sunday they would deal with a plan put forth by the United States to resume peace talks with a goal of forming a national unity government, only once the Saudi-led coalition “aggression” halted and “economic siege” lifted.

In Yemen, the SABA agency, which is under control of the Houthis, reported that two houses located in the district of Baqam in the city of Saada were destroyed by airstrikes overnight.

Kerry said Yemen’s dominant Houthi group must cease its shelling across the border with Saudi Arabia, cede its weapons and enter into a unity government with its domestic foes. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly about the meetings. It was not clear when the surgery was performed.

On Thursday, Kerry announced almost $189 million in additional humanitarian aid for Yemen, bringing the total amount of U.S. assistance to more than $327 million since October 2015.

The United States has backed the coalition with multibillion-dollar arms sales and provided logistical and intelligence support.

He also elaborated that United Nations envoy to Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed will immediately start a dialogue with all parties involved to outline new peace talks.

Mr Kerry arrived in Jeddah on Wednesday night and had a three-hour dinner with Saudi Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman that lasted until almost 1am, according to USA officials.

Russian Federation has primarily targeted rebels, some backed by Saudi Arabia, who are fighting to overthrow president Bashar Al Assad, making Riyadh’s support for the plan crucial. This includes the preparation of derivative works of, or the incorporation of such content into other works.
