The company has not announced how much the smartwatch will retail for or when it will be released.

With the IFA 2016 just around the corner, it is likely only a matter of time before people finally get their first look at Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S3, the Gear S3 and perhaps some other Samsung products.

The Samsung Gear S3 comes with Classic and Frontier versions and looking at each of the two models, you will for sure notice some real differences. The Gears S3 maintains the “always on” screen and offers a greater 16 million colours, compared to 8 million on the Gear S2.

The bulk comes with a bevy of new upgrades for added ruggedness and flair.

To begin let’s start with the specs of Samsung Gear S3. Expect pricing and exact availability closer to release. To start, it’s waterproof up to 5-feet deep for about a half an hour. It is crafted from Corning Gorilla Glass SR+, a material created to be more scratch resistant and clearer than conventional glass screens. And for the extremists among us, the device can handle very hot and cold temperatures. Meanwhile, another Gear S3 sat in a cold water bath with dry ice at 27 degrees.

Samsung states that its 380mAh battery with wireless charging should last for three to four days, even with the LTE model. The smartwatch is compatible with any 22mm watch band, and Samsung will additionally sell its own hand-crafted leather straps for it.

The two new watch models look similar from a distance.

The smart design approach goes beyond the physical aesthetic, too. Asus claims the smartwatch has solid fitness credentials with precise tracking abilities for sport-specific activities.

Just like its predecessor, the Gear S3 runs Tizen-based Wearable Platform 2.3.2, and this version introduces some new features.

Sensors on-board the new Gear S3 include: accelerometer, ambient light sensor, barometer, gyro, and a heart-rate monitor.

Apple’s Watch 2 may also have Global Positioning System, a barometer and a larger battery. However, at this size, it’s likely going to be more suitable for men, and more specifically, those with larger wrists – I’d say about 7 inches and thicker.
