Electric cars are getting more prominent over the years and Tesla has undeniably reached greater heights compared to its competitors, especially if it is able to come up with an automobile that will sport denser and more efficient battery packs.
Investors can expect more details soon, as Musk said he is working on a post now that will be published “later today”.
Tesla is promising big upgrades to the company’s self-driving Autopilot feature in the next few weeks, CEO Elon Musk tweeted Wednesday.
Tesla Motors is getting ready to launch a revised Autopilot safety alert created to get through to experienced drivers ignoring previous alerts.
Tesla is unlikely to say the changes have been added directly in response to recent accidents; Electrek notes that investigations showed drivers’ disregard for system warnings played a role or occurred nearly concurrently with at least two accidents.
Autoblog, based on a report from Electrek, states that the new “abort procedure” goes “into effect if the driver doesn’t respond to instructions to put his or her hands on the wheel within 15 seconds”. Autopilot has conditions of operation drivers must agree to, and those that ignore several Autopilot security alerts are expected to be blocked from reengaging the feature. After that, Autopilot will only be re-engaged once the vehicle is stopped and put into Park.
What’s more, the driver will not be able to restart the autopilot system until the auto has come to a halt.
According to reports, upcoming Tesla models will sport more radar units and enhanced camera systems all around the vehicle, all making for much smarter software.
