Rauf Aregbesola, governor of Osun state, has asked residents of the state to come out en masse to receive President Muhammadu Buhari, who will pay a one-day working visit to the state on Thursday.

Accompanying the president on the visit to the Southwest state are the Lagos State Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode, as well as his Oyo and Borno States counterparts, Governors Abiola Ajimobi and Kashim Shettima.

“The essence of the state’s creation was to bring government closer to the people and to provide good governance, just like Governor Aregbesola has done”.

‎Governor Aregbesola noted that the commissioning of the school is the manifestation of both governments’ commitment to educational development, which is also derived from APC’s ideology and manifesto of providing mass education to the people. The president, who charged other state governments to emulate the policies of the Osun State in improving quality of education across the country, said this was a sure way of guaranteeing the lives of future children.

Also, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state advised Governor Aregebesola to maximize the occasion of Preside Buhari’s visit to table before him series of woes facing the state and the citizens rather than presenting himself as a fulfilled and a performing governor.

“Mr. President’s visit is historic because it marks the first official Presidential visit to the state since we assumed office as the Governor of this great state”.

“We remain unrelenting as we continue our assault on delayed infrastructure in our education sector and all other sectors”.

Gov. Aregbesola in his remarks said that building the school was part of the state government’s efforts toward the development of education in the state.

Among the facilities in the newly-inaugurated school are 72 classrooms, offices, laboratories, toilets, library, bookshop, sick bay and a multi-purpose hall, which can comfortably sit 1,000 students for examinations.

“Education, for us, therefore, is the path to development”. We are 25 years now, but we are looking at the next 25 years and we want to create and determine the next 25 years through education.

He added that “we are producing the new man intellectually, morally and socially through education”.

“This is a non-parasitic and non-oppressive man who views his existence in light of the growth of others; he views whatever has acquired to be subsumed in the overall interest of others”.

Others include Deputy Governor of Osun, Mrs Grace Titi Laoye-Tomori, former Chief of Army Staff, General Alani Akinrinade (rtd) and Air Vice Marshal Oluseyi Petirin (rtd); Speaker of Lagos State, Rt. Isaac Adewole, the Minister of Communications, Adebayo Shittu, as well as state and National Assembly members, among others.
