Target pulls girls’ T-shirt after parents complain of offensive message
“There’s a reason why plastic kitchens and shopping carts are pink and purple”.

The T-shirt suggests that girls who idolise Batgirl must do the chores of dry cleaning and washing before saving the world.
On the shirt, Batgirl’s “to do list”, rattles off her apparent priorities: dry cleaning her clothes and washing the vehicle, then fighting crime and saving the world.
Gender roles have changed in today’s society and many men have taken on roles that would be assumed to be a woman’s.
But shoppers at Target have criticised the top for sending out a sexist message.
A representative from Target Australia, which has no connection to the US version of Target, responded to the Facebook post shortly after. Well, not so much if you’re a girl – at least, according to critics of the shirt.
“This T-shirt probably isn’t even the worst”, Ms Collins said.
To which Edwards responded that her point is that the T-shirt “asks little girls to value housework over her role outside of the home, and it does not ask little boys to do the same”. “Hopefully the word will get back to the designers that you can have positive slogans on T-shirts”.
Tweeters and Facebook users said they did not find the shirt offensive and accused Target of bowing to political correctness.
Retailer Target has come under fire for a girls’ t-shirt which puts doing the laundry ahead of saving the world.
Ms Collins’ post about the Batgirl shirt received hundreds of comments, many of them disagreeing with her stance. We certainly don’t intend to cause offence [sic] and will pass this feedback on for you.
However, that response did not satisfy many of those following the viral post.
Target Australia showcased a pink, Batgirl shirt on their website, and it’s causing controversy for consumers.
One commenter said: “Target should be ashamed for bowing to stupidity”.

“After reviewing and reading our customers concerns on the Batgirl tee, we have chose to remove the shirt from our stores. It was never Target’s intention to offend our customers with this item”, a spokeswoman told The Guardian.
